Thursday, Israeli settlers attacked a plot in She’ab As-Seer north east Ash-Shuyukh, and carried out cutting a siege that surrounded the land and composed of barbed wires and metal angles . Noteworthy, the siege is part of project activities implemented by Land Research Center , and funded by the Netherlands’ representative.
Farmers from the village said “Israeli troops accompanied by ten settlers showed up at the location Wednesday 31st July 2019 , while we were working in the plot, and started harassing us and telling us to leave the area, but we refused to leave our plot.”
Thursday, 1st August 2019, farmers went back to their plot to continue their work, but they were shocked to see that the fence that they installed the day before was cut and stolen , in addition to the tools and barbed wires that were in the location.
According to farmers, the attack was carried out by settlers from “Asfer” , (700 m) away from She’ab As-Seer, as they received preceding threats.
The targeted siege was (300 m) , it is a part of a (3000 m) siege that was going to protect a 200 dunums plot belongs to seven farmers.
Farmers in “She’ab As-Seer” are targeted by settlers’ attacks against their farms and crops, such attacks aim to put pressure on them in order to push them out of the area, and transform it into a colonial reserve.
Documented attacks in the location in 2019, all of them are parts of the LRC project activities in She’ab As-Seer:
- 5th January 2019, settlers uprooted and stole 60 olive saplings, only two days after they were planted.
- 11th February 2019, the occupation authorities issued an eviction order on a 9 dunums plot belong to Ayayda family, cultivated with olive saplings and contains a cistern.
- 11th February 2019, the occupation authorities issued an eviction order on a 10 dunums plot cultivated with olive saplings, and belong to Warasna family.
- 11th February 2019 , The Israeli occupation authorities issued a halt of work order on a 100 m agricultural road, on the pretext of working in C area without licenses.
- 21st February 2019 , the Israeli occupation civil administration and army uprooted 300 olive saplings and confiscating them , on a plot notified of eviction in 11th February , read LRC report.
