Qaryut village, south of Nablus city is considered a primary target for the Israeli occupation authorities and its expansion plans. The village accommodates four colonies that expand at the expense of Palestinian lands and damage the nature and environment of the area. Reportedly, Israel's Occupation Forces raided the southern area of Qaryut village and halted rehabilitation works on the agricultural road in the southern part of the village known as "Al-Shi'b". The attacking force confiscated machineries for roads milling that belong to Palestine Ministry of Public Works. With 1.5 km length, the rehabilitation came for the sake of protecting lands from any future colonial expansion plan, taking into account that the area is surrounded by a number of colonies namely (Shilo, Eli). Notably, the road serves 600 dunums of olive trees.

Ongoing closure on Qaryut's southern entrance:
Israel Civil Administration insists to keep the southern entrance of Qaryut village closed until nowadays. The entrance has been closed since 2000. According to Israeli plans to develop the area's colonies, it is foreseen that a colonial road will be opened parallel to the closed road\entrance to link a number of Israeli colonies in the area, creating a colonial bloc.
About Qaryut:
Qaryut is 20 km south of Nablus and 28 km away from Ramallah. It is one of the villages that are totally surrounded by colonies and outposts. The village populates 2321people on a total land area of 8471 dunums, of which 312dunums are the village's built-up area.
The Israeli occupation 1332 dunums from Qaryut village for the favor of the following colonies:
- Shilo colony: it was built in 1978 on 799 confiscated dunums from Silon lands. Now, the colony has a total built-up area of 1347.
- Eli colony: it was built in 1984 on 553 confiscated dunums. Now, the colony has a total built-up area of 3360 dunums.
