Description:
The Israeli Occupation Forces accompanied by the Government properties officer raided Deir Istiya , and served a military notice numbered “001000” , under which farmer Hussain Zidan has to evict a 10 dunums plot in less than 45 days , under clims of using a governmental property.
Reportedly, the targeted lands is planted with olives (aging 15 years old), and contains 130 olive trees , surrounded by a retaining wall (350 m long), Zidan rehabilitated the plot with the financial support of Union of Agricultural Work Committee in summer 2018.
Affected farmer told LRC:
“In 2011, the occupation forces ravaged and destroyed my plot , the ravages uprooted the olive trees and destroyed the retaining walls. The occupation claims that my plot belongs to the “Israeli Government” , but I have ownership deeds that prove the opposite. When I started rehabilitating the plot, settlers of the illegal settlement “Yakir” started attacking me on a daily basis. The main reason behind the rehabilitation was to protect it from colonial expansion schemes, But it didn’t take long before the occupation forces showed up with an eviction notice”.
