Fadel Abu ‘Alya told LRC:
“We have been living in Jaba’ait area for more than 50 years , and we live off agriculture and cattle breeding , we stay in tents, and for years we have been victims of Israeli harassments and human rights violations.
In September 10th 2019 , a massive army force accompanied by an officer from the Department of Antiquities in the Civil Administration raided the area and gave me and my cousin Anis Abu ‘Alya notices on our tents , the occupation gave us 14 days to dismantle our tents and evict the area, we filed a petition to the Israeli occupation authorities but they refused, and insisted to dismantle and confiscate our tents claiming that our community is on a site of antiquities, which Is a lie they made up to take over the area and keep it as a colonial reserve.”
“Khirbet Jaba’ait” is located to the east of Al-Mughayyir village in Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate , its residents are Bedouins and depend mainly on cattle breeding for living , the community has 56 residents from Abu ‘Alya family, they originally descend from Al-Mughayyir village. Three years ago the Israeli Occupation forces evicted a nearby military camp, rapidly settlers create a new outpost at the location since that day they have been harassing ranchers and Bedouins in order to push them to leave the area.
