Water is the nerve of economics for countries pursuing sustainable agriculture. It is the foundation of the agricultural sector uplift. It should be marked that Israel, since the first day of occupying the West Bank, controlled all water resources including the western and eastern water aquifers of Palestine. It also imposed an agenda in addition to laws to monopolize water. Thus, Palestine’s agriculture is at risk since the occupation controls the most crucial element in it, which is water,
A massive force from the Israeli occupation army raided on November 10, 2015 the area of Sahel Marj Bin Amir, north Ta’nak village and demolished three underground water wells and a water pool on the claim of “unlicensed construction”. Noteworthy, the area of Sahel Marj Bin Amir is historically known for its fertile lands, not mentioning it being a huge water reservoir.
According to the data of Land Research Center, damages resulted from the demolition reached out the agricultural and livestock sectors. This is because the demolished wells used to serve water for chicken husbandry and vegetable farms. Noteworthy, nine families including 70 members got their source of living cut off as a result.
