Violation: setting up a metal gate at a checkpoint
Location: Huwwara town- Nablus
Date: October 28, 2015
Perpetrators: the Israeli occupation forces
Details:
In a new step to harass the residents of Nablus city and to inflect a pressure and collective measure on them, the Israeli occupation forces set up on October 28, 2015 a metal gate at Huwwara checkpoint. Noteworthy, the gate was put for those departing the town towards the south. This restrains the movements of travelers and severely affects the economic status of the city.
The Israeli occupation army aims at pining down its presence in the area through imposing military checkpoints that control the Palestinian economy and disconnect Palestinian communities and cities.

About Huwwara checkpoint:
It should be marked that the checkpoint was established in the aftermath of the second Intifada of the 2000. This came in a step to cut the interaction between the Palestinian suburbs and other major cities. It is reported that Huwwara checkpoint separates the northern West Bank from the middle district.
Since its establishment, tens of Israeli violations of human rights were reported to take place at the checkpoint. Violations were represented in holding injured and sick people back at the checkpoint for long time and humiliating travelers at time of passing through it.
