Notices to evict 165 olive trees in Bardala village/ Tubas governorate

  • Victims: several land owners in Bardala.

Description:

The Israeli occupation continue their arbitrary policies against farmers in the Jordan Valley, such as land grabs and limitations on land access permits to keep their military control over the area’s lands.

Thursday January 23rd , the Israeli Occupation’s government properties’ officer raided the western area of Bardala and targeted a plot with a notice of eviction , the targeted plot has a total area of 3 dunums , and planted with 70  olive trees aging ten years old.

According to the notice number (001376) the occupation gave the owners only 45 days to evict , the occupation authorities claim that the lands are government properties, while they belong to number of families in Bardala village.

One of the affected farmers (Khalid Sawafta) told LRC:

“in 2010  , I received halt of work notices on all of my facilities , and in 2018 , the occupation forces demolished the facilities built on our land not once but twice in the same year , the only choice I had was planting the plot, but the occupation forces ravaged it, and now the occupation targeted  my plot with an eviction order.”

To the south of the village , only seven meters away from the village’s houses , the occupation notified other three dunums , planted with 95 olive trees and aging three years, on the pretext of using government properties.

According to notice number (001375) the occupation set 45 days to implement the eviction.

The targeted trees belong to:

  • ‘Izzat Ar-Rabaye’a : 45 trees.
  • Mahmoud Ar-Rabaye’a: 15 trees.
  • Ahmad Ar-Rabaye’a: 10 trees.
  • Hazza’a Ar-Rabaye’a: 15 trees.

Noteworthy , In 2018 , the Israeli occupation forces and settlers uprooted 320 olive trees west Bardala , similar attacks reoccurred in 2019 , which resulted in sabotaging 70 trees , and threatening other 80 trees of removal.

25 km to the north of Tubas,  Bardala village  is surrounded by the Green Line (north), Raba (west), Ain al Baeda (east) and Tubas (south).

It has a population of 1607 people( 2017 census). Its total area is 18329 dunums, of which 404 dunums are considered built-up area.

The Israeli occupation devoured 252 dunums of its land to build bypasses road , especially road no.90. It also confiscated 819 dunums to build the Separation Wall and isolated 2100 dunums of Bardala land as a result.

According to Oslo Accords, 90% of the village is classified as area “C”, which is under Israeli authority while only 5% is area “B” that is under the control of PA.
