Expansion of Bracha on Burin lands

Expansion of Bracha on Burin lands

Violation: The Israeli colony of Bracha is undergoing expansion
Location: Hanoun Mountain, Burin village- Nablus governorate
Date: 06/07/2014
Perpetrators: Colonists of Bracha

Details:

In a further escalation to create facts on the ground and reinforce colonization, colonists of Bracha embarked on a large-scale expansion work in their colony. The heavy machines are ravaging land day and night and in full swing, especially within natural blocks no. 5 and 22 of Burin land, in an area known as "Hanoun Mountain".

No less than 30 dunums of land within the security border of the colony were swept away in preparation of the construction of new colonial units. Bypass roads have been opened for that purpose too.

The policy of taking over Burin land by the colony:

Mr. Ghassan Daghlas, the person in charge of the colonial file in the northern part of the West Bank, stated to an LRC observer that:

"The colony of Bracha, located on the southern ridge of Mount Gerizim, is considered among the most radical and offensive. During the past ten years, colonists of Bracha attacked farmers, uprooted trees, and set fire to fields. Not a single olive harvesting season nor a family was spared from the attacks."

Daghlas added, "The Israeli occupation took advantage of the second intifada to establish the security zone around the colonies. Bracha's security zone is double!! The zone and is currently subject to future colonial plans to build residential units and road networks."

About Bracha colony:

Bracha was built in 1982 on Palestinian lands of Kafr Qalil, Burin, and Iraq Burin villages. 880 colonists live in it. Iraq Burin has a built-up area of 647 dunums, 291 of which were confiscated for the sake of the colony.
