Violation:  confiscating stones and construction material

Date: 18/11/2013

Location: al-Deirat / Yatta

Perpetrators: the Civil Administration of the occupation

Victims: residents of al-Deirat

Details:

On November 11th 2013, the authorities of the Israeli occupation confiscated the construction material for a mosque in the area of al-Deirat village, east of Yatta in Hebron governorate.

The responsible of the mosque construction Muhammad Hamamdah asserted that a force of the occupation accompanied by the Civil Administration raided the village of al-Deirat around 6:00 am in the morning, confiscated the construction material for a mosque, and uploaded them on a truck with a winch to be moved to Kfar Zion colony. A record of evidence "minute" was delivered as a result  of  the confiscation .

He also pointed out that the occupation put hands on 140m2 of building stones and that residents were threatened of confiscating the remaining material if they intimate the construction.

It should be marked that on October 28th 2013, the authorities of the occupation served a stop work order on the mosque. In response to the act, residents sought an attorney to object the order but the occupation went further and confiscated the construction materials as means to put pressure on the residents to stop work. It should also be mentioned that the construction started on October 20th 2013 on a 1dunum  piece of land, which was donated by one of the village's residents.

Residents of the area denounced what the occupation did of confiscation and construction termination inflected on sacred places of worshiping, denying the usual pretext of unlicensed construction, which the occupation made best of it to justify its violations. It is worth mentioning that residents of the village submitted many licensing applications for their structures in the village to the authorities of the occupation but they ended up rejected. As a result, the built-up area is being limited now and is even decreasing in a way that affects the overall status of the village.
