- Violation: Threatening to destroy the village of Tabban.
- Violation date: 07/06/2022.
- Location: Al-Tabban village – Masafer Yatta / Hebron Governorate.
- The aggressor: the so-called civil administration of the occupation.
- Affected party: residents of the village of Tabban.
The details:
On Tuesday, June 7, 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities issued notifications entitled “Giving an additional opportunity to object to the demolishing orders,” which it had issued against the homes and facilities of citizens in the village of Tabban in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron.
According to the notifications, the demolition orders were issued in the years (2003, 2015, 2017, 2020), and citizens were given three days to file objections to them. These notifications included all the village’s residential and agricultural facilities.
The citizens had submitted license files when they received orders to stop work in their homes and facilities, but the occupation authorities rejected these requests, and issued demolition orders at a later time, which led them to submit a petition to the Israeli Supreme Court asking for the demolition orders to be cancelled. The court granted them a temporary precautionary order to stop the implementation. The demolition is pending the preparation of a detailed organizational plan. The citizens prepared that plan and submitted it to the Israeli Planning and Building Department, which has also rejected it and issued the last notifications of the demolish. In this case, the lawyers will have to resort to the Supreme Court with a new petition to protect the citizens’ homes and properties after all legal procedures have been exhausted.
This attack on the village of al-Tabban coincides with the Israeli Supreme Court’s decision in early May 2022 to deport the residents of Masafer Yatta villages from their lands and homes, to use the area as a training area for its soldiers. The following table shows the names of the citizens whose homes and facilities are threatened:
