Halt of Work notice for Four Cisterns in Beit Ummar town / Hebron Governorate

Description:

Sunday, May 30^th 2021, the Israeli Occupation Authorities issued halt of work notices for four agricultural cisterns on the pretext of building without a license in Beit Ummar north Hebron.

Affected Citizen said that a vehicle from the building and organization department at the “Civil Administration” accompanied by an army patrol, raided Thaghret Ash-Shabak area northeast the town, and the so-called building inspector at the civil administration, served the area put the notices and took pictures of them before withdrawing.

The Occupation authorities ordered the immediate stoppage of construction works at the cistern on the pretext of building without a license, and sat June 30^th 2021 as the date of the subcommittee session in Beit El military court to decide the fate of the structure.

The targeted cisterns belong to:

• Farmer Khalid Breighith: Received two (halt of Work) Notices for artesian cisterns, built 5 years ago and used to provide water for 10 dunums plot planted with grapes.

• Farmer Taha Abu Maria: received two halt of work notices for cisterns, one of them is an artesian well, and the other one has baton walls with a storage capacity of 80 m³ built with funding from a humanitarian organization, and used to provide water for 7 dunums planted with vegetables.

The Occupation authorities targeted a number of facilities in Thaghret As-Shabak area on the pretext of building without a license. Noteworthy, in 2014 the occupation targeted an agricultural room belongs to citizen Khaled Breighith.

 “Kfar ‘Etzion” settlement cluster controls vast areas of lands. While on the other hand, the Israeli Occupation is heavily targeting Palestinian lands to force farmers to leave their farms for the favor of colonial expansion.

About Beit Ummar:[1]

It is located 12 km to Hebron city. The village’s total area is 21,285 dunums, of which 1,375 dunums are considered the built-up area; around 16,977 people inhabit Beit Ummar (according to 2017 census).

The Israeli occupation authorities confiscated 560.5 dunums from Beit Ummar for the favor of the bypass road no.60.  The occupation also confiscated 1,216 dunums for the favor of the following colonies:
