Violation: eviction orders for Palestinian lands.
Date: September, 2011.
Location: ‘Atous and Al Meikhed, Beit Ulla – Hebron.
Perpetrators: the Israeli Occupation Civil Administration, Army, the Central Inspection Unit.
Victim(s): AlAmleh family.
Details:
The Israeli Occupation Authorities issued eviction orders for 59.5 dunums of Beit Ulla’s agricultural lands. According to the owners, they found the orders thrown in their fields. The orders were entitled ‘obligatory eviction notices’, dated September 12, 2011 and signed by the so-called Central Inspection Unit. The orders claimed that the owners ‘have illegally acquired the land’ and ordered them to ‘return to the status quo within 45 days’.
The orders threatened the owners ‘of forcefully evicting the land on the owners expense’. Besides, it said that they have the opportunity to object within a timeframe of 45 days. Most of the lands have been recently rehabilitated and planted with trees and vegetables while some of them hold within their boundaries shacks and water cisterns.
Yusuf Nimer, one of the victims, considered the orders as a response to the overall political situation in the West Bank while considering the Palestinian Authority state bid in the UN.Whereas, Samir AlAmleh stated that the objective of the Israeli orders is strangling the Palestinian farmers and an attempt to confiscate more land to serve colonial expansion purposes and limit the land reclamation efforts.
