Violation: releasing colonists’ cows to graze in Palestinian lands

The village of Jalbun got 7850 dunums out of 33,000 dunums confiscated by the Israeli occupation in the aftermath of the 1948 war. In 2001, around two thousand dunums were isolated behind the apartheid wall after its establishment in the area.
In years, colonists released their cows to graze in the isolated lands causing huge damage. Noteworthy, Palestinian farmers and owners of the isolated lands are denied access to their lands expect during the olive picking season. They are only allowed for hours at such times.
According to primary data from Marj Bin Amir Municipality, damage reached out 23 dunums of olive groves that are isolated behind the wall.
Despite all complaints submitted by farmers through humanitarian organizations and the District of Coordination Office DCO, nothing really changed on the ground. Ironically, colonists went further in their actions and destroyed more lands.
It should be marked that the issue of releasing cows helped spread the problem of rodents and insects due to the cows’ faeces.
About Jalbun:
12 kilometer north east of Jenin, Jalbun is surrounded by Al Mughayyir and Fuqua (north), Al Mughayyir (south), Deir Abu Daef (west).
Jalbun has a population of 2500 people according to statistics conducted by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics in 2006. It has a total area of 9,308 of which 590 dunums are a built-up area of the village.
The Israeli occupation devoured more than 7850 dunums of the lands of the village for the colonies and the Apartheid Wall. It is worth knowing that colonies of Gilboa and King Joshua were built on the international truce line, i.e. on Jalbun lands occupied in the 1948 war.
