The quarries area in Beit Fajjar covers an area of 1500 dunums full of raw limestone which is considered a major natural resource in the area. The Israelis targeted the area with a number of attacks including the confiscation and detention of equipment and raw limestone blocks. Usually, the owners are forced to pay certain penalties to release the confiscated materials or blocks. such Israeli measures have had drastic consequences on the industry since it delay work and impose financial losses. on November 6, 2012, the Israeli troops detained some equipment and refused to release them despite paying the penalties.
According to Mohammad Thawabta, Beit Fajjar Mayor, the Israelis informed the owners that they must rent the lands if they wish to use them but he wondered, how can a man rent what is his!

Beit Fajjar:
It is located 10 km to the south east of Bethlehem. its total area is 18000 dunums, 5000 used for agricultural purposes, 6300 designated for the organizational plan of the village while 3000 dunums are used for industry, mainly limestone extraction and processing. However, 2500 dunums of the village has been classified as closed military zones, over half of this area was used for the construction of the segregation wall.
