It must be noted that Wadi al Maleh area has been widely targeted in recent years; the last of the attacks was carried out a month earlier when a number of structures were demolished.
The Israeli Occupation Authorities claim that the structures are illegally built due to failing to acquire construction permits. Needless to say, everyone knows that obtaining such a permit is next to impossible. Most of the residents of Wadi al Maleh area (8 Palestinian villages) depend on herding in their living. Nevertheless, the area is plagued with colonization as it is surrounded by a number of military camps and colonie, Kobar base and Hamamt al Maleh base (west), Mechula colony (north), Meskiot and Rotam colonies (east), and Hamadat and Pegot colonies and Samra base (south).
