Violation: puncturing the tires of 29 Palestinian vehicles.
Location: the northern side of Sinjil – Ramallah.
Date: November 28, 2012.
Victims: residencts of Sinjil.
Perpetrators: colonists of Maale Levona.
Details:
Colonists attacks rate have increased lately, hitting not only property but also the lives of Palestinians. On November 28, 2012, a group of colonists broke into the northern side of Sinjil, dressed up in the Israeli Military uniform; the colonists punctured the tires of 29 vehicles using knives and other stabbing weapons. Sinjil mayor, Mr. Ayyub Swayed, commented on the attack: ‘the numbers and types of colonists attacks have reached alarming levels; I would not find the rate of attacks strange as Sinjil is surrounded by five Israeli colonies and a number of military points.
The colonists are trying to detach the people from their lands as over 70 % of the people rely on agriculture in their living. As for the recent attack, it was a number of radical colonists, dressed in the Israeli Army uniform who broke into the village, covered by the night, before puncturing the tires of 29 cars and another vehicle. The villagers did not realize that they were colonists before it was too late. It is normal to believe that they were soldiers as most of Sinjil lands are classified ‘C’ according to Oslo and the Israeli Army patrols roam the area frequently‘.
