On 12/09/2013, a big force of the Israeli occupation army accompanying officers of Civil Administration raided Bruqin where they handed in warnings to citizens ordering them to stop working (building) in structures on the pretext of unlicensed construction in an area classified C according to Oslo Accords. The two targeted structures are under construction. The Israeli occupation gave people a respite till 03/10/2013 to have construction permits. This is also the same date for the Construction and Planning Committee meeting in what is known as Beit El court to look into the case of the threatened structures. No less than 13 residential and industrial structures are sent stop-work orders.
Information about Bruqin village:
13 km west of Salfit, Bruqin is one of the villages that totally depend on agriculture as a main source of income to their inhabitants. About 3500 people live in Bruqin. The total area of the village is about 13,273 dunums, 1336 of which are built-up area ; about 1200 dunums are planted with olive trees; 3000 dunums are pastures; and about 8000 dunums are under the control of colonial activity.
Bruqin is under continuous attack by the Israeli occupation that keeps on confiscating its agricultural lands and annexing them to the three colonies built on Bruqin. Around 8000 out of total 13237 dunums were confiscated to the benefit of Israeli colonies.
