- Violation: final orders to demolish commercial facilities.
- Location: the village of Al-Jalama, located to the north of Jenin.
- Date of violation: 20/06/2022.
- The aggressor party: the so-called civil administration of the occupation.
- Affected party: five Palestinian families.
Details of the violation:
The Israeli occupation continues to target shops and commercial stands located near the Al-Jalama military checkpoint, north of Jenin, as it seeks to prevent Palestinian citizens from setting up workshops and stands, and try to deprive them of their right to work and secure a decent source of income for their families.
It is noteworthy that a force of the occupation army, accompanied by the so-called construction inspector of the Israeli Civil Administration, raided on Monday morning (20/6/2022) a number of tin-built shops located directly south of Al-Jalama Crossing, where five commercial workshops were targeted. By directing final orders to demolish it immediately, and threatening to demolish it after (7 days) from the date of issuing the orders, under the pretext that it was built without a license.
It should be noted that the notified facilities had previously been notified to stop construction on (29/1/2022) on the pretext of not having a license. Despite the fact that the affected people had prepared the legal file, the occupation refused the license request and even insisted on demolishing these facilities without any justification.
The following table shows the details of the damages according to the field follow-up at the site of the violation:
It is noteworthy that these notifications prompted a number of those affected to close their workshops for fear of being targeted, which would expose them to heavy losses, as the occupation seeks to cause the greatest possible damage to property and assets during the demolition process.
Moreover, in the last February 2022, the occupation demolished at least 20 stands and shops along the main road leading to Al-Jalama crossing, causing harm to a large number of citizens, depriving them of their most basic human rights to secure the income of their families.
During the past five years, a large number of these stands were demolished, as the occupation seeks to empty the area completely, and restrict the Palestinians in the area.
The field research team of the Land Research Center documented a number of Israeli violations in the village of Al-Jalama during the current year 2022, the most prominent of which are:
- On February 1, 2022, the occupation demolished and confiscated stands for selling foodstuffs and merchandise in the village of Al-Jalama (the report in Arabic).
- On February 23, 2022, the occupation closed the eastern entrance to the village for more see (the report in Arabic).
