The occupation serves stop-work orders on 7 Palestinian houses in Beit Ummar/ Hebron governorate

Description:

In 27/3/2019, The Israeli occupation authorities served stop work orders on 7 houses in Beit Ummar.

A vehicle related to the civil administration and an army patrol raided the area, The construction officer got out from the car and wrote military orders, basted them on the houses and took pictures of them before leaving.

According to the military orders, the occupation authorities orders the immediate stoppage of construction works, on the pretext that the houses are unlicensed and located in area C .

The military orders also set (10/4/2019) as the subcommittee session in Beit El military court , to decide the fate of the structures.

The military orders targeted the following citizens:

  1. Imad Al-Alami : He received a stop work order on a building of stores (still under construction), which has an area of 160 m2.

  1. Firas Abu Ayyash: He received a stop work order on his building that consists of 2 apartments, the apartments were supposed to be homes for his family and his brothers’. The building’s total area is 400 m2.

  1. Moayad Awad: He received a stop work order on his under construction house, which he was planning to move to it after marriage. The house has an area of 120 m2.

  1. Abdulhamid Awad: He received a stop-work order on his under construction house, which is 170 m2, and is supposed to be a home for a family of 6 (1 child).

  1. Heirs of late Ahmad Ibreighith: They received a stop-work order on their under construction home, which was supposed to be a home for the family (8 members, 5 children). The house has an area of 180 m2.

  1. Abdullah Ibreghith : He received stop work orders on 2 under construction houses , (each has an area of 130 m2).

In reality, the issue is not all about unlicensed construction than it is on the occupation’s intention to take over more lands in the area of their control (Area C according to Oslo Accords). The Israeli occupation considers such lands as a colonial reserve, which will be hard to negotiate on in any future agreements with Palestinians.

About Beit Ummar:[1]

It is located 12 km to Hebron city. The village’s total area is 21,285 dunums, of which 1,375 dunums are considered the built-up area; around 16,977 people inhabit Beit Ummar (according to 2017 census).

The Israeli occupation authorities confiscated 560.5 dunums from Beit Ummar for the favor of the bypass road no.60.  The occupation also confiscated 1,216 dunums for the favor of the following colonies:
