Description:
Since Israel illegally occupied The West Bank in 1967, the occupation is working to take over The Jordan Valley area and change its history to make it appear like an area of a Jewish heritage. They have racist methods to confiscate Palestinian lands, like declaring an area as a state's lands, Absentees properties law and close military zones.
In the beginning of August, The occupation military forces cleared out the military camp (trestia) in Humsa At- Tihta area in the Jordan valley.
According to firsthand field observation in the location, LRC observer noticed that in the beginning of this October, illegal settlers started installing 13 mobile rooms built of steel sheets in the place of the military camp, in an attempt to transform it into an outpost; their doings are clearly supported by the occupation's government, The Israeli occupation authorities prohibit Palestinian farmers from cultivating their lands claiming that the area is "state's property" but allow settlers to build illegal outposts on them, which is a clear violation of human rights. The steel-sheets room that were placed by the Israeli illegal settlers in Humsa At-Tihta area.
This year the Israeli occupation transformed another military camp "Broch Habka'a" close to "Shedmot Makhola" settlement into an Israeli illegal colony with many privileges like all other outposts in The Jordan Valley.
Hayel Bsharart one of Humsa At-Tihta residents told LRC observer:
"Trestia military camp was established in the 70s and brought pressure to bear on farmers and herders of the area , the camp is taking over 45 dunums and contains radars and watchtowers, in the beginning of the last august , IOF started taking their military equipment and handed the area to "settlement's council" in the Jordan valley area, then they immediately started placing steel-sheets rooms and establishing a new illegal colony"

The doings of "settlements councils" protected by the occupation's authorities in building illegal colonies on their lands is a serious violation of international and humanitarian law. And violate the rights of Palestinian citizens, According to the following articles:
UN Security Council Resolution 242 of 1967: calls for
- the Withdrawal of Israel armed forces from territories occupied in the recent conflict;
- Termination of all claims or states of belligerency and respect for and acknowledgment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of every State in the area and their right to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force."
UN Security Council Resolution 449 of 1979: the Security Council determined:
"that the policy and practices of Israel in establishing settlements in the Palestinian and other Arab territories occupied since 1967 have no legal validity and constitute a serious obstruction to achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East"
UN Security Council Resolution 452 of 1979: states that
- "the policy of Israel in establishing settlements in the occupied Arab territories has no legal validity and constitutes a violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of 12 August 1949" and "calls upon the Government and people of Israel to cease, on an urgent basis, the establishment, construction and planning of settlements in the Arab territories occupied since 1967, including Jerusalem."
UN Security Council Resolution 465 of 1980:
- It expressed concern at Israeli settlement policy in the Arab territories and recalled resolutions 237 (1967), 252 (1968), 267 (1969), 271(1969) and 298 (1971). It further called upon the State and people of Israel to dismantle such settlements. The resolution calls on all states ‘not to provide Israel with any assistance to be used specifically in connection with settlements in the occupied territories
- Security council resolution 478 year 1980: Censures in the strongest terms the enactment by Israel of the "basic law" on Jerusalem and the refusal to comply with relevant Security Council resolutions, Those States that have established diplomatic missions at Jerusalem to withdraw such missions from the Holy City.
