• Violation: closing a village entrance
• Location: Shaqba village, northwest of Ramallah
• Date: September 03, 2017
• Perpetrator: the Israeli Occupation Army
• Victims: residents of the village
• Details:
On the evening of Sunday, September 03, 2017, force from the Israeli Occupation Army accompanied by a military bulldozer closed the eastern entrance to the village of Shaqba, northwest of Ramallah via earth mounds.
The Israeli occupation army claimed that a Palestinian shot fire at an Israeli vehicle belonging to a colonist from the colony of "Nili" nearby while driving by the area.
It is noteworthy that the closure of the eastern entrance to the village of Shaqba affected some 4500 residents, who got their movement restricted to daily destinations.
Reportedly, this entrance is almost the only link between the village and the Palestinian periphery.
The policy of closing Palestinian roads and preventing communication between Palestinian communities in the West Bank is an Israeli policy that was reinforced in the aftermath of the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000 and is still implemented until today. There are still at least 300 obstacles blocking Palestinian roads in the West Bank. As a result, farmers got denied access to their land in some locations and human cases got hindered as well.
