- Violation: serving stop-work orders
- Location: Arab Al-Zayed Bedouin community
- Date: June 20, 2016
- Perpetrators: Planning and Construction Committee- Israel Civil Administration
- Victims: Bedouins of the community
Details:
Education is essential for peoples' development and civilization but Bedouins of the Palestinian Jordan Valley (Al-Ghoor) lack such fundamental pillar. The occupation has been targeting any developmental projects that aim at developing the area of Al-Ghoor to harass Bedouins and push them out of their lands.
It should be marked that the Israeli Occupation Forces raided on June 20, 2016 the Bedouin community of Arab Al-Zayed and hanged a stop-work order on the community's only school that is still under construction. The order was issued by Planning and Construction Committee- Israel Civil Administration on the claim of "unlicensed construction" within area classified "C" according to Oslo Accords.
According to the order, the affected responsible of the school was given a deadline until June 29, 2016 to complete all licensing procedures. This comes in time with the hearing session of the Planning and Construction Committee- Israel Civil Administration in the Israeli court of Beit El colony to consider the legal status of the notified structure.
It is reported that construction works on the school started on March 2015 with funds from the Swiss government. The structure is of two floors (600m2 each). Six classes are supposed to be located in the second floor while the administration room and toilets are planned to be in the first one. The school was supposed to initiate classes next year, serving 70-80 students from first to sixth grade.
Given that the area of Arab Al-Zayed lacks schools, students of the community had no choice but to attend the schools of Ad-Duyuk Al-Tahta and Nuwei'ma areas. Noteworthy, attending those school are expenses due to the transportation.
Demolition threats on six sheds for sheep:
Israeli Occupation Forces delivered Bedouins from Al-Zayed community notices of "additional opportunity to object demolition" that were served following a previous order of demolition. The notices targeted six sheds used to shelter the sheep of the community's Bedouins.
It should be marked that the sheds built in 2013 are made of hay and wood. The serving of the notice came on the claim of "unlicensed construction" within area classified "C" according to Oslo Accords.
It is reported that the owners of the targeted structures sought Human Rights Organizations to follow up on the case but Israel Supreme Court eventually ruled the demolition of the sheds in 2014.
Stop-Work order on a residence :
To the north of Jericho; more specifically the area of Marj Na'jih, Israeli Occupation Forces delivered on June 08, 2016 citizen Sayel Abu Jarrar (34) a stop-work order on his under construction residence. The 90m2house roofed with metal slaps was supposed to be home for six members including four children.
According to the military order, the affected citizen was given until June 29, 2016 to complete all licensing procedures. . This comes in time with the hearing session of the Planning and Construction Committee- Israel Civil Administration in the Israeli court of Beit El colony to consider the legal status of the notified structure.

About Arab Zayed:
The community is 1km to the northeastern side of Duyuk Al –Fauqa village, north Jericho. It populates 350 people (the chieftain of the community-2013). It should be marked that the community is located in area classified C (under full Israeli control) according to Oslo Accords. Palestinians residing in such areas are obliged to obtain specific building permits from the occupation government (Israel Civil Administration), which in this regard never grant such permits.
One km to the northeast of the community, an Israeli military camp is founded on 670 confiscated dunums from Al- Nuwei’ma area. The people of Arab Al Zaid hail from the occupied territories of 1948; more specifically from the area of Negev.
