The Israeli Municipality in the Occupied City embarked on the preliminary search process which includes searching for antiques before embarking on the actual implementation of the project. The targeted area is 8.5 dunums located between Ramat Shlomo colony and Shu’fat. The targeted plot is property of Hamdan Abu Ni’ which have deeds proving their ownership.
Amer abu Ni’ said: ‘the targeted plot is property of my grandfather; its total area is 8.5 dunums planted with 35 trees of ‘Roman’ olives, the youngest of the trees is at least 300 years of age. The plot is not neglected as we attend the trees often and pick the olives every year. In recent years, the Israeli Municipality in the Occupied City and the Israeli Antiques Authority began to harass us when having any kind of activity. In 2006, the Israeli Municipality in the Occupied City demolished a residence for my uncle and they have been standing in the fac e of any construction in the plot.
3 years ago, officers of the Israeli Municipality in the Occupied City showed up and placed an advertisement for a project for the organization of Shu’fat lands, specifically parcel 30556 with a total area of 45 dunums. A week ago, on January 13, 2013, the Israeli Municipality in the Occupied City published a map for the designated work area and yesterday they marked these areas. We will stand in the face of this plan and we will place a tent on the targeted plot to show the Israelis that this land is ours by right‘.
