Qasem has been the target of several abuses during his routine visits to his field. He owns a 6-dunum-filed which used to be planted with various citrus. On September 19, 2012, Qasem found an order signed by the Israeli EPA demanding that he uproots 30 olive trees which were planted 6 years earlier. The order gave the owner till October 1 to remove the trees while claiming that Wadi Qana area is a natural reserve and shall not be altered. It is the second time he receives such an order, the first was in April. Similar order were handed to three other farmers on September 23, 2012. They were justified similarly.
