Head of Qarawat Bani Hassan municipality Ibrahim ‘Assi told LRC:
“During this September, Qarawat Bani Hassan municipality established a park on a 2 dunums plot that has a historical significance, and started a campaign to clean the area to attract terrorists to this significant location. However, not much time had passed before The Occupation forces showed up and served a halt of work notice on the pretext of destroying archaeologies.”

In reality, the issue is not about protecting archeological sites from destruction, but it is about prohibiting Palestinians from embracing the historical identity and importance of their own land. The Occupation also wants to shows its control over area C , through prohibiting Palestinians from using their lands at the area in any price.
At the time the occupation authorities issues notices against Palestinians under claims of protecting archeological sites, the Occupation forces destroyed the ancient Khirbet of Umm Aj-Jamal that was built in the roman era and located in Al-‘Eizariya town. they also demolished The Shepard hotel – an ancient hotel in Ash-Shaikh Jarrah village to build colonial units , and viciously demolished the archeological village of Deir Sama’an in Salfit , in addition to the ongoing expansions of Leshem colony on Palestinian archeological lands , and many other violations that show the occupation’s arbitrary policies.
