This attack is not considered the first of its kind in that particular site  as the first one took place on the second of March, 2020.  farmer on the second of March 2020, when the settlers cut down 42 olive trees owned by the same farmer in “Al-Wadat” area.  For more information, see the report issued by the Land Research Center at the time (click here).

In both attacks the settlers came from the near by settlement of Brokhin whose name was stolen from the original Palestinian village of Brogin . This settlement was established during  the eighties of the last century on land confiscated from the village of Broqin.  A short while ago a colonial road was built to connect the threatened mount of  Subuh with the settlement “Brokhin”.

The affected farmer reported to the Land Research Center’s researcher the following:

” I own a plot of land of 6 dunums north of the town of Broqin and I have got all the ownership documents  by law.  In January last year,  I began to rehabilitate part of what was left of my land after the confiscation of  a section of it for the settlement of “Brokhin”. I planted 45 olive trees at the age of five years, but the settlers came last March and cut down 42 trees out of the total.  After that, I replanted the land  with olive trees, and I fenced it with barbed wires, but the same sabotage gang returned to the site and destroyed my trees. I levied a complaint to the Israeli police through the district liaison office but the case was registered against an unknown person.”
