The Israeli Occupation demolishes 11 houses and facilities in Masafer Yatta / Hebron governorate

  • Location : Several villages in Masafer Yatta such as Al-Mufqara , Al-Fakheet and Maghayer Al-‘Abeed.

Description:

Wednesday June 3rd, The Israeli Occupation authorities demolished several houses in Masafer Yatta south Hebron , on the pretext of building without licenses.

Massive army forces and border guards accompanied by the building and organization officer and two bulldozers (JCB and Caterpillar) raided the area of Masfer Yatta and carried out a massive demolition operation , leaving several families homeless.

Demolition in Al-Mufqara village :

The occupation authorities targeted a residence that belongs to citizen Ahmad Hamamdeh in Al-Mufqara , the fanatic troops took out the furniture that was inside the house and carried out the demolition.

The targeted residence is built of plastic sheets and has a total area of 40 m2 , it was built in 2019 , and inhabited by a family of 3 (1 child).

Demolition in Al-Markiz village:

The Occupation authorities then went to Al-Markiz village and carried out a massive demolition operation targeting the hereinafter listed names:

  • Bilal Hushiya : The Occupation demolished his tent (steal sheets and metal body) , the targeted tent has a total area of 50 m2, built since 2019 The targeted tent is a home for a family of 12.
  • Sameer Hushiya: The Occupation demolished his residential tent , which has a total area of 35 m2, built since 2019 .The targeetd is a home for a family of 4 , 2 of them are children.
  • Imad Hushiya: The occupation demolished a residence that belongs to Imad’s family and built of steel sheets and bricks since 2019, the targeted residence is a room with a total area of 20 m2 , and inhabited by a family of 3.
  • ‘Anan Hushiya: The Occupation demolished the family’s house , which has a total area of bricks and steal sheets, built since 2019 , and inhabited by 3 family members.
  • M’uath Hushiya: the occupation demolished a residential room for M’uath’s family (5 members , 3 children), A human rights organization gave them this room  as a humanitarian aid, the targeted room has a total area of 40 m2, and also demolished a barn that contained 80 cattle heads (barbed wires and metal angles), with a total area of 100 m2.
  • Khadija Hushiya: The occupation demolished the residence Khadija lives in with her son , which is a tent built of steel sheets and a metal body , built early 2020 and has a total area of 40 m2.

Demolition in Al-Fakhit village:

The Occupation authorities demolished a residence that belongs to citizen Jameel Al-‘Amour , the  targeted residence is a tent built of steel sheets and a metal body built in 2019 , and has a total area of 55m2, it was inhabited by a family of 3 members , among them one child.

Demolition in Maghayer Al-‘Abeed:

The Occupation authorities demolished a tent set up by Masafer Yatta village council and the emergencies’ committee during the corona pandemic.

The Occupation heavily targets Masafer Yatta area with nonstop military orders and notices , many of the Masafer’s structures are notified or have already been demolished.

 Legal Feedback :

Demolishing Palestinian houses and facilities is a violation of international Law and human rights agreements:

Article 147 of Geneva fourth convention  : extensive destruction and appropriation of property, not justified by military necessity and carried out unlawfully and wantonly. ( it is considered a serious violation of the convention)

Article 53 of Geneva fourth convention that forbids destroying properties : Any destruction by the Occupying Power of real or personal property belonging individually or collectively to private persons, or to the State, or to other public authorities, or to social or co-operative organizations, is prohibited, except where such destruction is rendered absolutely necessary by military operations.

Article 33 of Geneva fourth convention: No protected person may be punished for an offence he or she has not personally committed.

Article 32 of Hague convention 1907 part g: To destroy or seize the enemy’s property, unless such destruction or seizure be imperatively demanded by the necessities of war.

Article 17 of Universal declaration of human rights 10Dec- 1948:  No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property.
