Israeli Occupation Forces close some main roads in Ramallah governorate

Violation: closing roads

Location:  northeastern part of Ramallah

Date:  July 27, 2017

Perpetrators: Israeli Occupation Forces

Victims: residents of Ramallah

Details:

Israeli Occupation Forces closed in November some main roads and entrances of Ramallah villages in a step of collective punishment to harass Palestinians and restrict their movement.

Land Research Center followed up on the closed roads and documented them as follows:

  1. Al-Jalazoun Camp entrance:

A force from the occupation army accompanied by a dozer closed on July 27, 2017 the entrance of Al-Jalazoun Refugee Camp via road blocks. Noteworthy, the road links the camp to AL-Bireh city of Ramallah. Thousands  of people travel through the road everyday to daily destinations in neighboring cities and towns.

During the past years, the road was reported closed to many times by the occupation forces, which led to deterioration in the economic status.

  1. Beitin southern was closed by road blocks. Israeli Occupation Forces banned entry and exit from and to the area. Noteworthy, the road is vital in connecting the villages of north Ramallah namely ( Deir Jarjir, Silwad, Ein Yabrud, Beitin, Kfar Malik, and Yabrud) with Ramallah city itself. Residents are now forced to take a substitute road that is longer in distance and cost more money.
  2. Beit El military checkpoint: the occupation forces closed the checkpoint that connect Palestinians who live in the northern cities of Ramallah to the city of Ramallah. Palestinian cars were not allowed through. Noteworthy, the road is a linking point between AL-Bireh city and the bypass road no. 60.
