Israel to seize new lands in the location of the ” to- be- evacuated” Amona outpost

  • Violation: military order of lands confiscation
  • Location:  Silwad town- Ramallah
  • Date:  January 09, 2017
  • Perpetrators: Israeli Occupation Forces
  • Victims:  some Palestinian farmers

Details:

In a new Israeli plan, which is put to bypass the ruling of the Supreme Court made on December 25, 2014 to evacuate Amona outpost, the so-called Israel responsible of state and abandoned lands issued a military order to confiscate lands Silwad  as follows:

  • Parcel no. 28  with a total area of 15.06 dunums
  • Parcel no. 29 with a total area of 6.17 dunums
  • Parcel no. 30 with a total area of 25.45 dunums
  • Parcel no. 54 with a total area of 8.67 dunums

According to the order, parcels of lands that were not objected against will be confiscated. The order set a four day deadline to object to the confiscation. The mayor of Silwad, Abdelrahman Saleh, told Land Research Center that such an Israeli attempt is to save Amona outpost  after the Supreme Court ruled it to be evacuated.

He also said:

" The occupation issued on August 2014 a military order declaring some lands as abandoned. The municipality and owners objected to the order and proved that the ownership of lands is Palestinian. As a result, the occupation worked harder and took advantage of that the owners of some parcels of lands didn’t object to the order and thus Israel responsible of state and abandoned land issued the latest confiscation order.

Saleh warned against the new order that the occupation will use as a pretext to restore Amona outpost in the area. Saleh also said that the Israeli government made a deal with the Supreme Court to get an extra opportunity until February 2017 to evacuate the outpost with half million shekel compensation for each colonist. It is reported that Amona outpost accommodates 60 caravans, where at least 55 Jewish family live.
