Israel Municipality demolishes carwash in the Jerusalem town of Beit Hanina

Dozers of Israel Municipality in demolished on November 09, 2016 a carwash in the town of Beit Hanina on the claim of unlicensed construction.

It is reported that the carwash is founded at the junction of Dahyat Al-Barid and is only 20 meters from the apartheid wall, which separates Beit Hanina from Al-Ram town.

The structure is owned by the brothers Abdelra'ouf and Abdallah Maraqa.

Citizen Abdelra'ouf Marqa told Land Research Center the following:

" I built the carwash in 2012 on a 30 dunum plot. The demolition was carried out while interior was still insde including the washing equipments and water pumps. The demolition operation also reached out three containers; 12m2 for each"

It should be marked that the occupation's municipality carried out a demolition campaign on several structures and residences in Beit Hanina during the summer of 2016. All demolitions were carried out on the claim of unlicensed construction. Not only, the municipality confiscated may materials and caravans from the area.

In the same time Israel municipality demolishes structures and residences in Beit Hanina, an Israel construction company is currently implementing a huge commercial mall in the area. The mall is a supermarket chain called "Rami levi"; the owner of the brand name.

Land Research Center LRC sees that demolitions contradict with all of the International conventions and Humanitarian laws including:

  1. Article 17 of the (1948) Universal Declaration of Human Rights stating: “Everyone has the right to own property alone as well as in association with others. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property.”
  2. Section ‹G› of article 23 of the (1907) The Hague Conventions asserting: “In addition to the prohibitions provided by special Conventions, it is especially forbidden to destroy or seize the enemy's property, unless such destruction or seizure be imperatively demanded by the necessities of war.”
  3. Article 53 of the Geneva Fourth Convention (1948) declaring: “Any destruction by the Occupying Power of real or personal property belonging individually or collectively to private persons, or to the State, or to other public authorities, or to social or cooperative organizations, is prohibited, except where such destruction is rendered absolutely necessary by military operations.”

What Israel does of demolitions in east Jerusalem and West Bank is a clear-cut violation of human rights and all of the international laws and covenants. Israel only aims at displacing Palestinians for sake of serving the colonial expansion plans.
