The Israeli occupation authorities on November 16, 2015 demolished residential and agricultural structures in the areas of Al-Qanoob and Jurat Al-Kheil, east Sa’ir town in Hebron.

  1. Demolition in Al-Qanoob site:

A force from the Israeli army accompanied by a staff from the Civil Administration and two dozers raided the area at dawn and closed the road leading to Al-Qanoob residential community. The dozers then embarked on demolishing some structures after evacuating their interiors.

Citizen Mohammad Al-Shalaldih explained that the Israeli occupation authorities have previously served military orders of demolition, to which residents objected through an attorney but with no avail.

The dozers demolished the following structures in Jurat Al-Kheil site:

After demolishing the aforementioned structures in Al-Qanoob area, the force headed towards Jurat Al-Kheil area and demolished the following structures:

  1. The residence of Ahmad Al-Shalaldih: it is 48m2 shack roofed by shade cloth and is inhabited by six members including four children. The shack was built ten years ago.

  3. The residence of Na’im Al-Shalaldih: it is 25m2 shack roofed by shade cloth and is inhabited by 2 members.
  4. The residence of Malik Na’im Al-Shalaldih: it is 25m2 shack roofed by shade cloth and is inhabited by two members.

Ahmad Na’im Al-Shalaldih explained that Israel Civil Administration raided their residential community on November 15, 2015 and informed the residents of evacuation within one week deadline. The residents were surprised next day when a force from the occupation arrived to the place and demolished many structures.

It should be marked that the colonies of Asfar and Mitzad are founded on lands confiscated from the areas of Al-Qanoob and Jurat Al-Kheil where Al-Qanoob is founded to the west of those colonies and Jurat Al-Kheil to east.

Land Research Center sees the policy of home demolition as an ethnic cleansing practice and a violation of the following:

  1. Article 17 of the (1948) Universal Declaration of Human Rights stating: “Everyone has the right to own property alone as well as in association with others. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property.”
  2. Article 53 of the Geneva Fourth Convention (1948) declaring: “Any destruction by the Occupying Power of real or personal property belonging individually or collectively to private persons, or to the State, or to other public authorities, or to social or cooperative organizations, is prohibited, except where such destruction is rendered absolutely necessary by military operations.”

What Israel does of demolitions in east Jerusalem and West Bank is a clear-cut violation of human rights and all of the international laws and covenants. Israel only aims at displacing Palestinians for sake of serving the colonial expansion plans.
