Violation: serving stop-work orders

Date: 22/03/2015

Location:  Beit Ummar village/ Hebron governorate

Perpetrators: Israel Civil Administration and army

Victims:   members of  Alqam family

Details:

Israeli authorities on March 22, 2015 ordered four Palestinian residents of Beit Ummar town to suspend the construction work of three homes and an auto workshop to the north of Hebron.

Citizens asserted that Israeli forces along with staff from the Israeli civil administration stormed the area of al-Mantra to the east of the town and handed three residents notices to stop the construction work on their homes.

They were recognized as Amro Alqam, and the two brothers Mohammad and Mohannad Alqam. Mohammad’s family has been living in the 50-square-meter house for the past five years.

Army forces also handed Yousif Alqam a notice to stop the construction work on his auto workshop despite having the legal documents that prove his ownership of the property. The order came under the pretext of being too close to Gush Etzion settlement bloc.

All four residents were ordered to appear before court in Beit El settlement on April 13 to look into the cases.

The orders reached out the following:

  1. Yousif Alqam:  Alqam was served a stop-work order on his auto workshop that is located on a 2 dunums plot since 2010. This work shop is a source of income for Alqam family (7 members) and his other two brothers' families (14 members)
