Location: al Khoof area Haris – Salfit.

Date: November 7, 2012.

Perpetrators: the Israeli Occupation Army.

Victims: Hammam Salama and Jaber Husein.

 

Details:

 

On November 7, 2012, Israeli dozers embarked on the demolition of two residences in Haris on the pretext of unlicensed construction in area classified ‘C’ according to Oslo Accords. Omar Samara of Haris Village Council commented: ‘the demolition took us all by surprise; we saw the troops accompanied by a dozer breaking into the village before embarking on demolition. they gave the inhabitants one hour to clear the contents of the houses. there are over 40 structures threatened with demolition in Haris, 22 in Al Khoof ara alone. the demolition took place despite an order from the Israeli Supreme Court to postpone all demolitions till a final decision is taken’.

Haris has been one of the villages suffering badly of the Israeli measures and rabid colonial expansion. over 40 structures in the village are threatened with demolition for ‘unlicensed construction’ in areas classified ‘C’ according to Oslo Accords.

 

Haris:

 

Haris is located 7 km to the north west of Salfit; its total area is 8769 dunums including 190 dunums, the area of the village organizational plan. It is inhabited by 3740 people (2009 census).
