Violation: stop-work order for a residence and a demolition order for another.

Location: Shib AS-Sir – Beit Ummar, Hebron.

Details:

 

On August 22, 2012, the Israeli Occupation Authorities issued a stop-work order for Yonis Za’qiq and a demolition order for Jawad Awad in Beit Ummar. Yonis Za’qiq received order number 150851 entitled ‘stop-work’ which is designated for an under-construction residence for a 5-member-family.

The order said that the structures were built before acquiring proper permits and that a hearing session will be held in Beit El Military Court to decide on whether to demolish the structure or return to the status quo. The owner headed to the Society of Saint Yves for legal aid.

 

Jamal Awad received order number 391156, entitled ‘stop-work and demolition’; the order said ‘you have been given the opportunity of presence before the Inspection Subcommittee and Object to previous order on June 18, 2012. However, the Subcommittee is now convinced that the aforementioned structure was built before acquiring the needed permits. Thus, the Subcommittee orders the immediate stoppage of construction and the removal of the designated structure within 7 days of the date of the order’. The order was issued on August 22, 2012.

Jawad said that he objected to the order that was issued in June but the Israeli Occupation Authorities returned it claiming that the file was incomplete. He informed the Municipality of Beit Ummar and headed to the Society of Saint Yves for legal aid. Awad’s residence is a three stories; the ground floor was built in 1990 but the others were added in 2011. Its total area is 900 m2.
