The Land Research Center: the Israeli Occupation Authorities Hinders Development in Areas Classified ‘C’

On July 16, 0212, Israeli troops broke into Al Qanoub area in Sa’ir,eastern Hebron, and handed two Palestinian families demolition orders for their recently-built cisterns.  The first cistern is 80 m3 in volume. It is used to irrigate over ten dunums of lands planted with 210 seedlings. It is owned by Basem and Omar al Shalalda and benefits 20 people, more than half of them are children. The second cistern is 44 m3 in volume and is used to water 5 dunums of land planted with 185 fruit tree seedlings. The cistern is property of Shaher al Shalalda’s 9-member family.

It must be noted that the cisterns were built through the Improving Livelihood in the Occupied Palestinian Territories Program, funded by theNetherlands Representative Office, administered by the PARC, and implemented by LRC.

LRC condemns the Israeli aggressions against the Palestinians. It also denounces the Israeli brutal attacks and their ethnic cleansing policies targeting the West Bank, especially areas classified ‘C’ according to Oslo Accords.

LRC calls for the International and Humanitarian bodies intervention to stand in the face of the Israeli racist measures and provide Palestinians with protection.
