Israeli settlers establish a new colonial outpost on lands of Al Mughayyir village – Ramallah

Violation: establishing a new colonial outpost.
Location: an area known as ‘Al Muraba” – Al Mughayyir – Ramallah.
Date: June 2, 2012.
Details:
A group of Adi Ad colonists seized Palestinian lands in Al Mughayyir area; the colonists placed a tent there, marking their territory. Al Muraba’, the targeted area, which is adjacent to Adi Ad colony has been a victim of several Israeli aggression including, uprooting trees, leveling lands, and destroying plants. The owners of the lands were disallowed of using them even when they manage to acquire entry permits from the Israeli Occupation Authorities.
It must be noted that the Israeli Army provides the colonists with protection while, at the same, time, bully the Palestinians which are kicked out of their if they manage to access the lands. Faraj al Nasan, Head of the Village Council, stated to an LRC Observer: ‘despite several complaints that have been filed against the colonists and the army an against the bullying, theft of tools, equipment, and cattle, so far, our efforts were futile. Even the Israeli Supreme Court which claims to be ‘just’ has been encouraging colonists to do more attacks‘.
Al Mughayyir, an overview:
Al Mughayyir is located 22 km to the north east of Ramallah; it is inhabited by around 2900 people according to the PBS statistics conducted in 2010. Most of the village agricultural fields are located in its eastern parts; its total area before the Israeli conquest of the West Bank was 33,000 dunums. However, the Israelis announced most of the Jordan Valley region into a military zone excluding more than 27556 dunums from the village total area. The Israelis had also planted mines and deployed forces in the area preventing herders from being anywhere around.
The village is surrounded by numerous Israeli colonies making it a constant target to the Israeli colonization lust. It surrounded by Tumer, Jiljal, Piza’il, and Netev Hagidod (east), Shivut Rahel and Shilo (west), Niran, Yutaf, and Kohav Hashahar (south), and Ma’ale Avraym and Mijdalim (north).
