The Demolition of a Brux, an Agricultural Room and a Water Network in Al Hamra Area – Tubas Governorate
Violation:  The demolition of a brux, an agricultural room in addition to a water network in al Hamra area by Israeli occupation forces.
Location: Near Al Hamra checkpoint.
Date of Violation: January 12, 2012.
Victims: Mr. Kina’an Mohammad Kina’an and his family

Details:
As the planting season for the winter crops has started in the Jordan Valley, Israeli occupation forces increased its vicious campaign against the Palestinian farmers and their lands with the intention of controlling agricultural lands to be used later for colonial activities.
The campaign manifested itself on the morning of Thursday January 12, 2012, when Israeli occupation forces surrounded one of the Palestinian farms located in the vicinity of Al Hamra military checkpoint separating the Jordan valley and the Governorate of Nablus. The said forces demolished an agricultural brux as well as an agricultural room in addition to a water network carrying water from Al Shibli Spring to the Palestinian farms located in Al Hamra area.

As it’s always been the case, Israeli occupation forces claimed that the demolition took place due to building “without permit” in Area C. The demolition affected 10 Palestinian families (a total of 57 people of which 33 are children) that depend on farming as the main source of income.

Some of the devastation caused by the demolition:

It has to be pointed out that occupation forces has set and invented “rules and regulations” with the implicit and explicit goal of the destruction of the Palestinian agricultural sector in the Jordan Valley leading to the total control of the Palestinian economy there. Some of these methods include:

  • The control of the agricultural lands through declaring it as “Closed Military Areas” used for military trainings and planted with land mines.
  • The prevention of digging any wells or water cisterns.
  • The establishment of agricultural colonies in the Jordan Valley and providing it and its residents with exceptional privileges including the availability of large water quantities, agricultural tools and tractors in addition to special entry points into the European markets.
  • A continued harassment campaign by occupation soldiers as well as colonists of Palestinian farmers all throughout the Jordan Valley.
  • The prevention of the marketing of Palestinian agricultural products either inside Israel or in other Palestinian parts of the West Bank.
