The Israeli Municipality in Jerusalem Forces a Palestinian to Demolish his Shop
The Israeli Municipality in the Occupied City of Jerusalem forced Ashraf Swelem to demolish his 45-m2 paint shop in Shu’fat. The shop was established fifteen years ago; soon after its completion, the Municipality penalized the owners an amount of 22,000 ILS for unlicensed construction.

On November 14, 2011, a Municipality Inspector came with a demolition order and warned the family that if they do not remove the shop themselves within one month the Municipality will on the family’s expense. The family had no choice but demolishing the house which occurred in December 17, 2011. The shop formed the only source of income for the family.
