Demolishing a House in Al Jab’a village

Demolishing a House in Al Jab’a village
Violation: demolishing an under-construction house.
Location: Al Jab’a – Bethlehem.
Date: October 10, 2011.
Perpetrators: the Israeli Occupation Army.
Victim: Nasr ad Din Al Tous.

Details:
At 04:00, on October 10, 2011, Israeli dozers accompanied by tens of soldiers demolished Nasr Al Tous house which was ‘shocking’ to the family which never received a demolition order, only a stop-work order served some months earlier. The 13-member-family was planning to move to the house that was in the last phases of construction soon.

Nasr stated to an LRC observer: ‘while the house was being demolished, a neighbor called and told me that they are demolishing my house but I did not go, I did not want to see my house which I worked on for years being demolished. Currently, I did not do anything; I am thinking how to resolve the situation, how to pay my debts, and how to compensate a 150,000 ILS loss. All the contents of the house, doors, tools, and construction materials were not removed; they were all turned into rubble alongside the house. What makes it worse is the fact that I have to leave my rented house by the beginning of 2012.

The Israelis did not only demolish the house but also demolished a 13-member-family (including 10 children) dream to have a proper shelter that will preserve their dignity.

Al Jab’a:
