4 Stop-work orders in Jiftlik and Dyok- Jericho Governorate

4 Stop-work orders in Jiftlik and Dyok- Jericho Governorate
Violation: handing 3 stop-work orders in Jiftlik and another in Dyok
Location: Jiftlik and Dyok – Jericho
Date: October 4, 2011
Perpetrators: the Israeli Occupation Army by orders of the Inspection Subcommittee
Victims: 4 Bedouin families (29 members, 17 children)

Preface:
Jiftlik is located in a valley within the hills and mountains overlooking Jordan; it used to be the destination for agricultural investments due to the fertile soil and the availability of water. However, the village has never been spared from the Israeli harassment. The Israelis took over the water sources in the village and dried out more than 15 well; they have also deprived them from their right to residency.

Israel does not recognize the village which does not even have an organizational plan; even the simple and primitive houses were not spared the Israeli war machine. 40 stop-work and demolition orders were issued against structures in the village; the Israelis consider the village lands as ‘closed military zone’ where activities are prohibited.

Details:
On October 4, 2011, Israeli troops accompanied by officers of the Inspection Subcommittee broke into the village and served three families stop-work orders on the pretext of no construction permits in areas classified ‘C’ according to Oslo.

It is worth mentioning that all the Israeli Governments since the establishment of the so-called Israeli state in 1948, have targeted the Jordan valley area in an attempt to clear the way for further colonial expansions.
