The Israeli Occupation destroys a house in Al Baq’a Neighborhood
Violation: the destruction of a 300-square meters house and warehouses.
Perpetrators: the Israeli Occupation Authorities.
Victims: Yahya Jaber.
Date: December 20, 2010.

Details:
On December 20, 2010, the Israeli Occupation dozers leveled a structure forming 4 warehouses with a total area of 300 m2. Yahya Jaber, the owner, used part of the warehouses as a shelter for him and his family; rendering them homeless. He used the rest for sheltering 10 goats, a horse, and a pony which are considered his sole source of income.

Meanwhile, the Israelis are leveling Palestinian lands and using them for colonial expansion on an opposite hill.

Yahya stated to an LRC observer: “out of nowhere, Israeli Occupation Army armored vehicles (7) accompanied by 2 dozers appeared infront of my house.I asked them what do they want; the replied, after ripping apart my ID card:” you have 20 minutes to clear the house; we want to demolish it”. The bower was connected to the house and now it is about to fall thanks to the demolition. Previously, in January, 2010, they destroyed two water tanks that I used for watering trees and vegetables. They were used to preserve a total of 650 m3, the first 450 and the second 200”.

Furthermore, the Israeli force ordered the immediate stoppage of the construction of An Nour Society structure. The new building was supposed to be used as a medical clinic. The targeted area lacks infrastructure, paved roads, and power in addition to suffering from the Israeli ban of construction. Apparently, the Israelis are trying to clear the area from any Palestinian presence, on the one hand, the nearby Kharsina colony is expanding rapidly.

On the other hand, the Israeli systematic house demolition approach and the prevention of adding new structures will render the area clear of any Palestinian houses in 10 years time. The Land Research Center views the Israeli house demolitions and House seizures as a breach of the basis of human rights and the humanitarian law.

The demolition of property contradicts article 53 of the Geneva Fourth Convention stating: “Any destruction by the Occupying Power of real or personal property belonging individually or collectively to private persons, or to the State, or to other public authorities, or to social or cooperative organizations, is prohibited, except where such destruction is rendered absolutely necessary by military operations”.
