- Violation: the seizure of Palestinian land.
- Location: Kafr ad-Dik town / Salfit governorate.
- Date of violation: 21/01/2022.
- The perpetrator: the settlers of ” Pdu’el “.
- Affected party: farmer Ahmed Shawkat Younis El-Deek.
The violation details:
On Friday morning, 21/1/2022, and under the protection of the occupation army, a group of settlers from the Pdu’el settlement stormed a 4-dunum piece of land in the western part of the town whose location is near the fence of the settlement which was built there in 1984. The attacking settlers began an immediate process of planting, seizing and fencing the target land with the aim of imposing a fait accompli, forcibly removing farmers and preventing them from accessing their lands in favor of Judaization schemes and colonial expansion. These attacks come in the context of the colonists’ continuous attempts to seize more of the citizens’ lands and annex them to the vicinity of the colonies, taking advantage of the occupation army’s protection.
The mayor of Kafr El-Deek, Mr. Muhammad Nagi, told the Land Research Center researcher the following:
“A large group of Pdu’el settlers seized 4 dunums of land owned by Mr. Ahmed Shawkat Younis al-Deek in the “Diriya” area, west of the town. They planted it with trees, fenced it and placed signs warning citizens and landowners not to enter it. While the settler were planting the trees and fencing the land the occupation army closed the entrance to the town and fired sound and gas bombs at the citizens who tried to prevent the settlers from attacking the land”.
It is worth noting that the lands of the town of Kafr ad-Dik have been facing for months an unprecedented attacks by the occupation and its settlers, embodied in the uprooting and theft of dozens of olive trees and the bulldozing and confiscation of large areas of land, in addition to the continuous assaults on the people and farmers of the town.
