On the morning of Monday, May 9, 2022, at approximately seven in the morning, a large force of the Israeli occupation army, accompanied by the so-called construction and organization officer, stormed the village of Frush Beit Dajan, located east of the city of Nablus in the central Jordan Valley, and proceeded to demolish a greenhouse under construction owned by the citizen Yousef Abdul Hamid Marawah Hanini, which is located on the land north-east of the village, with the soze of one dunam.
The affected citizen Youssef Abdel Hamid Marouh Hanini (the number of his family is 7) told the field researcher of the Land Research Center as follows:
“I did not receive any notification, as we were surprised on Monday morning at seven o’clock by the arrival of 6 military vehicles belonging to the Israeli occupation army, accompanied by a large bulldozer, to the site of the greenhouse and proceeded to demolish it”.
The affected citizen also added:
“That the Israeli construction and organization officer handed him a report on the demolition of the plastic house to object to the demolition if he so desired, and told him that the demolition took place because it was built in a military training and maneuver area therefore the officer does not need to give Hanini a notification before the demolition”.
Azim al-Hajj Muhammad, head of the village council of Frush Beit Dajan, told the field researcher of the Land Research Center as follows:
“The occupation army arrived at the site of the greenhouse and proceeded to demolish it without warning, neither to the village council nor to the affected citizen, on the pretext that the greenhouse was built in a military training area, according to the Israeli officer. This demolition does not need a warning or notification”.
It is noteworthy that the Frush Beit Dajan village council participated in all the workshops of the project to protect the Palestinian right to land and housing, which is implemented by the Land Research Center with funding from the European Union.
Frush Beit Dajan village[1]
The village of Frush Beit Dajan is located 25 km to the east of the city of Nablus. It is bordered to the north by Ein Shibli and Tammun, to the west by Beit Dajan and Al-Aqrabaniya, to the east by Tammun and to the south by Jaftlik. Its population is (723) as of (2017). It has a total area of 20,082 dunums, of which 225 dunams is a building area for the village. And the occupation confiscated an area of (2494) dunams of its lands, as follows:
- The settlement of “Hamra”, which was established in 1971, plundered an area of 1,320 dunums, and the number of settlers reached 188.
- The bypass roads looted 703 dunums, in favor of the following bypass and settlements’ roads numbers: (57, 508 and 578).
- The occupation army camps looted 471 dunums.
- The total area of the village is classified according to the Oslo Accords as “C” lands, that is, under full Israeli administrative and military control.
