Israeli Occupation Forces ravaged on August 09, 2016 a car yard on the claim that the plot is owned by the Jewish National Fund, which is run by Israel Lands Authority. Noteworthy, the Lands Authority set up a signboard at the entrance of the car yard, claiming it Israeli ownership.
The car yard is reported to be owned by citizen Mohammad Elyyan; it is founded on a 500m2 leased plot. The car yard was opened in 2015.
It should be marked that a massive force from the Israeli occupation police accompanied by a military dozer arrived at the location at down and embarked on demolishing a caravan that was used as an office. Not only, the dozer ravaged the plot where some police members confiscated an electricity generator.
Land Research Center LRC sees that demolitions contradict with all of the International conventions and Humanitarian laws including:
- Article 17 of the (1948) Universal Declaration of Human Rights stating: “Everyone has the right to own property alone as well as in association with others. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property.”
- Section ‹G› of article 23 of the (1907) The Hague Conventions asserting: “In addition to the prohibitions provided by special Conventions, it is especially forbidden to destroy or seize the enemy's property, unless such destruction or seizure be imperatively demanded by the necessities of war.”
- Article 53 of the Geneva Fourth Convention (1948) declaring: “Any destruction by the Occupying Power of real or personal property belonging individually or collectively to private persons, or to the State, or to other public authorities, or to social or cooperative organizations, is prohibited, except where such destruction is rendered absolutely necessary by military operations.”
What Israel does of demolitions in east Jerusalem and West Bank is a clear-cut violation of human rights and all of the international laws and covenants. Israel only aims at displacing Palestinians for sake of serving the colonial expansion plans.
