The Orders provided a time interval until the 11th of October, 2010, to start the process of obtaining the needed permits.
The recent Stop Work Orders have increased the number of threatened structures in the town since the year 2000 to more than 40 structures that varies between residential, agricultural, industrial and even water storage facilities. It has to be pointed out that the limited area of the Master Plan of the town (743.5 dunums out of its 18,000 dunums) has pushed a large number of the 5,000 residents of the town to build outside of the boundaries of the Master Plan. Most of such buildings and structures are, thus, located in Area C which warrants the issuance of the Stop Work Orders by the Israeli occupation forces.

The overall area of the town is about 18,000 dunums of which 809 dunums are its built-up area. The town lost approximately 8,000 dunums due to the establishment of the Israeli Racist Isolation Wall on its lands in the western and southwestern direction of the town. Moreover, the colony of Peduel devoured an additional 500 dunums. Currently, the total area of the colony is 592 dunums with a built-up area of 171 dunums. Until the year 2006, the population of the colony was 1219 colonists.
