The Israeli Occupation Authorities demolished 5 residences sheltering 37 people in Beit Hanina without any previous warning. Around 120 soldiers accompanied by two bulldozers broke into ‘Al Ideisa’, to the north of Beit Hanina. Soon after the troop deployment and the blocking of roads, the Israeli troops evicted all the residents and started knocking down the residences with all the contents.
The dozers also targeted the water tanks placed away from the houses; soon after the demolition was over; the dozers moved backwards to destroy the tanks. Mohammad Ka’abna (67) stated to an LRC observer:’ we bought the lands 15 years ago, and built our residences here 10 years later. We assigned an attorney to follow up our case in Israeli Courts; however, at 8:30 am, on November 17, 2011, Israeli troops and dozers broke into the area as if they were going to war; the result was leaving us shelter-less!When the dozers showed up, we called the lawyer, he told us that no demolition order was issued; and no decision was made regarding the house; even if an order was issued we should have had a 3-day-respite!’
