He also pointed out that the cistern was full of water and while filling it with dirt, the water overflew to the neighboring lands. The water well was established in 1992 and is of 300m3 in volume. The cistern was used to irrigate olive and fruitful trees planted on a piece of land estimated of 6 dunums in area. The way citizen used to collect water is by using the rainwater harvesting technique.
Zughayer ended saying: “the occupation has previously served removal order on a metal container that was installed on the well but has never received any orders on the well itself”.
Land Research Center LRC sees that the demolitions contradict with all the International conventions and Humanitarian laws including:
Article 17 of the (1948) Universal Declaration of Human Rights stating: “Everyone has the right to own property alone as well as in association with others. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property.”
Section ‹G› of article 23 of the (1907) The Hague Conventions asserting: “In addition to the prohibitions provided by special Conventions, it is especially forbidden to destroy or seize the enemy's property, unless such destruction or seizure be imperatively demanded by the necessities of war.”
