The dozers of the Israeli occupation army on July 29, 2015 demolished a wedding hall in the neighborhood of Wad Al-Dam, north occupied Jerusalem under the claim of unlicensed construction. The structure was demolished on its interior; nothing was saved as a result.
The structure belongs to Citizen Tariq Abu Shalbak; dozers of Israel Civil Administration- Beit EL carried out the demolition as for the structure is located within the area of its jurisdiction.
Citizen Abu Shalbak told a researcher form Land Research Center the following:
“ Al-Khaima hall (600m2) was established back in 2005; it was built by stones and roofed with metal slaps. The structure is composed of five rooms and six bathrooms. On June 2015, a staff from the Civil Administration hanged a demolition order on the hall under the claim of unlicensed construction, taking into account that the structure is founded on a plot classified as “West Bank lands” or outside the borders of Jerusalem municipality, which requires the interference of Israel Civil Administration. Today, dozers of the Civil Administration leveled the structures to the ground; losses reached out a million INS ($254 473). Eight people who work and benefit from the hall were affected as a result”
Dozers also reached out a carpentry and a 24m2 room (used for painting) belonging to Citizen Omar Taha; the 200m2 structure was made of metal slaps. It should be marked that Omar rented the place from its owner Tariq Abu Shalbak back in 2005.
Losses of 700,000 INS ($178 131) followed the carpentry, which was demolished with the interior still inside. Seven people who work and benefit from the structure were affected as a result.
In the same location, the dozers also reached out a printing house belonging to Citizen Ahmad Yasin; the 200m2 structure was made of metal slaps. It should be marked that Ahmad rented the place from its owner Tariq Abu Shalbak back in 2005. It should be marked that the structure was demolished with the interior still inside. Nine people who work and benefit from the structure were affected as a result.
Building without a proper permit has always been the occupation’s claim to justify any demolition, taking into account that the Israeli occupation never grants building permits for structures due to two reasons, first of which is claiming that structures are built on green lands “where construction is banned”. As for the second reason, proximity to the apartheid wall is taken as a pretext to execute demolition.
