Israeli Machineries ravage two roads in Masafer Yatta / South Hebron

Violation: Ravaging vital roads.

Date: June 9^th 2021.

Location: Masafer Yatta villages in Hebron Governorate.

Perpetrators: The Israeli Occupation forces and civil administration.

Victims: Citizens of Masafer Yatta villages.

Description:

June 9^th 2021, the Israeli occupation authorities ravaged two roads in Masafer Yatta south Hebron, on the pretext of building without a license.

About 7:30, the Occupation forces Jeeps accompanied by a massive bulldozer raided Masafer Yatta and ravaged many roads:

• The road that links She’ab Al-Butum and the eastern villages of Masafer Yatta: The Occupation’s bulldozers ravaged an agricultural road known of (She’ab Al-Butum – Al-Fakheet) , the targeted road is (2.5 km * 6 m). The bulldozers created earth mounds on many spots on the road and closed off pathways on bothsides.
• The road that links Khallet Ad-Dabe’a and the eastern villages of Masafer Yatta: The Occupation’s bulldozers ravaged a road that was recently rehabilitated by Masafer Yatta village council. ( the rehabilitation included pouring concrete in a rough mountainous area and level the road for cars.)

This road is locally known as (Khallet A-Dabe’a – Al-Fakheet). Noteworthy, both of the ravaged roads are not only close to Al-Fakheet village, but they link Masafer Yatta villages to each other.

Masafer Yatta village council opened those roads in 2017, to facilitate movement between villages (14 villages). On the other hand, The Israeli Occupation Army aspires to take over the area and transform it into a military training zone, and it is known as Firing Range 918 by the Occupation Forces.

In 2017, the Occupation Authorities issued halt of work notices for the roads on the pretext of building without a license, followed by closures and ravages at the roads to hinder citizen’s movement. However, this time the ravages are unrepairable.

In June 2^nd 2021, the occupation authorities and the so-called civil administration issued a notice entitled an additional chance to object, and threatened to ravage the land in 3 days after the notice.

The ravages came in time with the harvesting season which is a very important time for people of Masafer Yatta who depend mainly on agriculture and cuttle breeding for living, the coming days will be very difficult to farmers, after the occupation machineries destroyed the road that facilitates access to vast areas of agricultural lands.
