Description:
On Tuesday morning, July 14, 2020, the Israeli occupation forces stormed the town of Ya’bad, and handed over summons to owners of three stores located near the main street. The targeted stores serve as: meat shop, bread and groceries shop and an empty store. The summons set July 27, 2020, as a hearing session for the Building and Organization Committee at the Beit El Military Court to decide the fate of the structures.

It is noteworthy that the owners of the targeted facilities had received notices to stop construction in early January.

Haji Omar Al-Kilani, the owner of one of the four shops told LRC the following:
“About three years ago, I started a meat shop business on the main road , this business is the only source of income for my family. As soon as I started working at my shop store, I became a target of the Israeli occupation harassments, by closing the shop at one point or requesting to stop work at other times. Recently, the Israeli Civil Administration summoned me to a hearing session to review the decision to demolish the shop. The occupation is continuing its crimes against every Palestinian thing. “
The town of Ya’bad:[1]
Ya’bad is located 18 km to the southwest of Jenin.
Its population is 16,012, according to the 2017 census. Its total area is 29,572 dunums, of which 1,814 dunums are a built-up area.
The occupation has confiscated an area of 1,840 dunums of its lands, as detailed below:
- 483 dunums for the construction of the settlements of Mevo Dotan and Hermesh.
- 1357 dunums in favor of building bypass roads No. 596 and No. 585.
The lands of the town are classified according to the Oslo Accords as follows:
- Areas classified (A) 1674 dunums.
- Areas classified (B) 8124 dunums.
- Areas classified (C) 19774 dunums.
